Zone 2 Hunter, Jumper and Equitation 2022 Specifications

ADULT AMATEUR HUNTER
Sections offered and requirements:
  • Adult Amateurs – may be split into three (3) sections

Cross Entry: Riders:
Riders may not compete in any other classes at the same competition where the fence height exceeds 3’6”, except Adult Amateur Jumper and USEF Talent Search. Riders competing in the Amateur Owner Hunter sections may ride one horse that they do or do not own in the Adult Amateur Hunter division.

Riders can cross enter between the Amateur Owner Hunter 3'3" and 3'6”. In the under saddle class the cross entry restrictions do not apply, but an Amateur Adult must ride in the Adult Amateur Hunter under saddle.

Horses:
Horses may be shown by a different rider in any other section or class at the same competition. Horses may not cross enter between any Adult Amateur and any Amateur Owner Hunter sections at the same show.

Fence height:
  • 3’0” with spreads not to exceed the fence height.
  • Courses will not be adjusted for ponies.

Combining/Dividing Sections:
May be split into three sections:
  • Adult Amateurs 18–35
  • Adult Amateurs 36–49
  • Adult Amateurs 50 & over

If there are fewer than three (3) entries in one Adult section if offered split it may be combined with another Adult Amateur section. If there is only one section of Adult Amateurs it may be combined with Children’s Hunter Horse section.

The Adult Amateur Hunter Horse section may only be combined with the Children's Hunter Pony and Children's Hunter Horse sections after those sections have been combined and still do not meet the three (3) entry minimum.

Section Requirements:
If the section is held in one day a maximum of four (4) classes may be offered. If the section is held over two days a maximum of five classes may be offered.


Awards:
Zone Horse of the Year Awards will be presented annually to the following sections:
  • Adult Amateur Hunter 18-35
  • Adult Amateur 36-49
  • Adult Amateur 50 & over

LOW ADULT AMATEUR HUNTER
Eligibility:
Open to exhibitors who have reached their 18th birthday as of December 1 of the current competition year.

Cross Entry:
Riders: Riders may not cross enter into any class or section at the same competition where fences exceed 2’9”

Fence Height:
  • 2'6"

Combining/Dividing Sections:
If there are fewer than three (3) entries in the Low Adult Amateur Hunter section, it may be combined with the Low Children’s Hunter Horse section.
The Low Adult Amateur Hunter Horse section may only be combined with the Low Pony Hunter and Low Children's Hunter Horse sections after those sections have been combined and still do not meet the three (3) entry minimum.

Awards:
Zone Horse of the Year Awards will be presented annually to the following section:
  • Low Adult Amateur Hunter

ADULT AMATEUR JUMPER
Sections offered and requirements:
  • Low Adult Amateur Jumper
  • High Adult Amateur Jumper

Cross Entry: Rider:
Low Adult Amateur riders may not compete in any other class at the same competition where fences exceed 1.15m except the USEF Talent Search Class Level 1* and 2*.

High Adult Amateur riders may not compete in any other class at the same competition where fences exceed 1.25m.

Horse/Pony
Horses may show at 1.40m or below with another rider.

Horse and Rider Combination:
If a horse and rider combination compete where fences exceed 1.20m the horse and rider cannot compete in a classic, stake, or highest prize money class at the horse show.

Should the cross entry rules be violated, points awarded in the lower height class are forfeited and the horse and rider combination are not permitted to compete below 1.25m in height at the show.

Fence Height:
  • Low Adult Amateur Jumper 0.90m to 1.00m
  • High Adult Amateur Jumper 1.10m to 1.15m

Combining/Dividing Sections:
If there are fewer than three (3) entries in any section, the sections may be combined at management’s discretion allowing each section to compete at their respective height. If sections are combined a horse can only compete at one height in each class.

Awards:
Zone Horse of the Year Awards will be presented annually to the following sections:
  • Low Adult Amateur Jumper
  • High Adult Amateur Jumper

CHILDREN'S HUNTER HORSE
Sections offered and requirements:
  • Children’s Hunter Horse 14 & Under
  • Children’s Hunter Horse 15-17

Cross Entry: Rider:
Rider may not cross enter into any other class at the same competition where the fences exceed 3'0” (exception: Children's Jumper, Pony Jumpers, USHJA National Hunter Derby and Equitation Classes where the fences do not exceed 3'6"). A rider on a Children's Hunter Horse may cross enter into the Pony Hunter section or the Green Pony Hunter section at the same competition. In the under saddle if a rider has two or more horses entered, at least one horse is ridden by the original rider, and the additional horse(s) entered may be ridden by another junior rider, provided the additional junior rider(s) do(es) not compete over 3’6” at the same competition.

Horses/Ponies:
Horses competing in the Children’s Hunter Horse section may not cross enter into the Junior Hunter section at the same competition.

Fence Height:
  • 3’0” with spreads not to exceed fence height

Combining/Dividing Sections:
If there are more than twenty-five (25) in any one section then that section may be split into Sections A and B. If there are fewer than three (3) horses entered in the Children's Hunter Horse section, then they may be combined and judged with the Children's Hunter Pony or Adult Amateur Hunter section. If there are still fewer than three (3) entries after the Children's Hunter Small/Medium and Large Pony sections have been combined with the Children's Hunter Horse section, these sections may only then combine with the Adult Amateur Hunter Horse section.

Awards:
Zone Horse of the Year Awards will be presented annually to the following sections:
  • Children’s Hunter Horse 14 & Under
  • Children’s Hunter Horse 15-17

LOW CHILDREN'S HUNTER HORSE
Eligibility:
Open to exhibitors who have not yet reached their 18th birthday as of December 1 of the current competition year.

Cross Entry:
Riders: Riders may not cross enter at the same competition into the Children’s Hunter, Pony Hunter or any class/section where fences exceed 2’9”

Fence Height:
  • 2'6"

Combining/Dividing Sections:
If there are fewer than three (3) horses entered in the Low Children's Hunter Horse section, then they may be combined and judged with the Low Pony Hunter or the Low Adult Amateur Hunter section. If there are still fewer than three (3) entries after the Low Pony Hunter section has been combined with the Low Children's Hunter Horse section, these sections may only then combine with the Low Adult Amateur Hunter Horse section.

Awards:
Zone Horse of the Year Awards will be presented annually to the following section:
  • Low Children's Hunter Horse

CHILDREN'S HUNTER PONY
Sections offered and requirements:
  • Small/Medium Children’s Pony
  • Large Children’s Pony

Cross Entry: Rider:
Rider may not cross enter into any other class at the same competition where the fences exceed 3'0” (exception: Children's Jumper, Pony Jumpers, USHJA National Hunter Derby and Equitation Classes where the fences do not exceed 3'6"). A rider on a Children's Hunter Pony may NOT cross enter into the Pony Hunter section or Green Pony Hunter section at the same competition. The cross entry restrictions do not apply in the under saddle, but juniors must ride in the Children’s Hunter Pony under saddle.

Horse/Pony
Ponies showing in the Children’s Pony section may not cross enter into the Regular Pony Hunter sections or the Green Pony Hunter section at the same competition.

Fence Height:
  • Small/Medium Ponies: 2'0” with spreads not to exceed height of fence.
  • Large Ponies: 2'6" with spreads not to exceed height of fence.

Combining/Dividing Sections:
If there are more than twenty-five (25) in any one section then that section may be split into Sections A and B.

If there are fewer than three (3) ponies in the Children’s Hunter Small/Medium Pony or Children’s Hunter Large Pony, then the classes may be combined and judged together. If there are still fewer than three (3) ponies after the Small/Medium and Large sections have been combined, the Children's Hunter Pony sections may combine with the Children's Hunter Horse section.

If there are still fewer than three (3) entries after the Children's Hunter Small/Medium and Large Pony sections have been combined with the Children's Hunter Horse section, these sections may only then combine with the Adult Amateur Hunter Horse section.

Awards:
Zone Horse of the Year Awards will be presented annually to the following sections:
  • Children’s Hunter Pony-Small/Medium
  • Children’s Hunter Pony-Large

LOW PONY HUNTER 
Eligibility:
Open to exhibitors who have not yet reached their 18th birthday as of December 1 of the current competition year.

Cross Entry: Riders:
Low Pony Hunter riders may not cross enter into any class where fences exceed 2'9” or into any rated section at the same competition.

Fence Height:
  • 2'0"

Combining/Dividing:
  • Can be split.
  • If there are fewer than three (3) ponies the Low Pony Hunter section may
    combine with the Low Children's Hunter Horse section.
  • If there are still fewer than three (3) entries after the Low Pony Hunter section has been combined with the Low Children's Hunter Horse section, these sections may only then combine with the Low Adult Amateur Hunter Horse section.

CHILDREN'S JUMPER
Sections offered and Requirements:
  • Low Children’s Jumper
  • High Children’s Jumper

Cross Entry: Rider:
Low Children’s Riders may not compete in any other class at the same competition where fences exceed 1.15m except the USEF Talent Search Class Level 1* and 2*.
High Children’s Riders may not compete in any other class at the same competition where fences exceed 1.25m.

Horse/Pony
